Why It Matters

Both young people and older people experience ageism. By participating in  intergenerational projects, young and old gain a better understanding of and respect for each other reducing generational tensions and the fear of crime in the elderly. Many of the projects undertaken regenerate the environment and provide opportunities for socialising and learning. Overall the projects we undertake enhance both lives and communities.

Our activities also address issues such as unemployment, isolation, lack of skills and low self-esteem. Many of our volunteers have said that participating in our projects has changed their lives giving them confidence, helping them make friends, giving the skills and experience necessary to find jobs and to appreciate the abilities that they possess.
